We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming from Lexington for this bit of news on one of New York’s favorites.
Fans of Evening Attire will have a chance to attend his Retirement Party on Breeders’ Cup Day (October 25th) at Belmont Park. Plans under consideration are for the grey guy to spend some time in the area behind the main paddock so that fans can take photos; Evening Attire will be walked around the saddling area and onto the track, where he will proceed to the winner’s circle for a retirement ceremony. Videos of his races will be shown throughout the day.
A mailbox at NYRA has been set up (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that fans can submit their favorite Evening Attire moments in an essay of approximately 100-250 words (complete with the fan’s name and hometown). Those moments will then be collected, bound, and presented to Evening Attire’s owners, Joe and Mary Grant, and his breeder and trainer, Tim and Pat Kelly, in the winner’s circle.
Some of those who submit stories will have a personal photo op with Evening Attire.
