For Calloway Stables, Plus Que Parfait Is More Than Perfect

Translated literally, his name means “more than perfect.” Francophones will recognize it as the verb tense that correlates with the pluperfect in English.

Clint Joiner and Tyler Alexander had both worked with horses before going into the racing business.

And perhaps, on Saturday evening, they will be able to amend that sentence to read, “Before the horse they bred, Plus Que Parfait, won the Kentucky Derby.”
