Chiseled in Stone

“Bustin Stones in my opinion is the most underrated stallion in the country hands-down.”

That was Jon Taisey’s response when asked to comment on the horses that Hibiscus Stables had bred by the stallion standing at Waldorf Farm.

The executive vice president of sales and client relations for Hibiscus, Taisey and his partners Mike Oliveto and Sean Feld have bred several to Bustin Stones, one of which ranks fourth by earnings among his progeny.

“I’ve been saying this forever,” said Taisey. “Granted, I’m a little partial because we keep our mares at Waldorf, so I’ve been familiar with him ever since he got there. But I really loved him from the start. The first time I saw him come out of the breeding shed, I was so impressed, and dollar for dollar, I don’t know a better sire in New York State.”

Such sentiments are music to the ears of Roddy Valente, the man who bred and owns Bustin Stones and who believes fiercely in his value and worth as a stallion.
